The Perunthottam Project is a decade-long undertaking to find, restore, and rebuild a 300-year-old temple in South Tamil Nadu that was lost to the elements.
The 300-year-old Lakshmi Narayana Perumal temple houses both Shiva and Vishnu idols that have been dated to be between 800 and 1000 years old.
Beyond restoring a lost piece of history and culture, the project has enabled hundreds of local families with new forms of employment and community building. Project members have also donated a 10-acre farmland, the proceeds of which go back to the community as a way to give back.
The Perunthottam Project (perunthottamproject.org) is a non-profit run by families from in and around the village of Perunthottam near the famed Poompuhar in South Tamil Nadu. They release yearly audited statements of temple expenditures.
Any support or donations will go a long way in helping us complete this endeavor and establish a sustainable community centered around the temple.
⚠️ Note: We are not yet approved for tax-exempt donations under 80G, so please donate generously but prudently.
